Carter Glass
AND THE FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM JAMES A. HUSTON
During his long career as newspaper publisher and owner, state senator, congressman, cabinet member, and United States senator, Carter Glass was in the middle of many controversial issues. But this Lynchburg native is remembered in the nation at large mainly for his role in the creation of the Federal Reserve System and for later improvements in that system and in related banking and securities regulation.
