This was called Watering Branch Tavern and stood on Fort Avenue where Apple Glass and Auto Zone are now. It was built c. 1800 and was a favorite stopping place for farmers bringing their tobacco to town. At the time of the photo (c. 1910) it was owned by the Brandt family. It was demolished in 1956.
