In Tribute To...
In this, his 27th year at VES, Mr. David Phillip Garmey has served VES in a special capacity as Interim Headmaster. While this particular school year has been filled with unique challenges like no other year, Mr. Garmey has always given 100% to the school, and it shows in all he has accomplished. We, the student body, are thankful for his strong leadership, above and beyond the normal call of duty. We also recognize his skill which has guided us through an unusual transition year.
During his many years at VES, he has taught all levels ofFrench, served as Dean ofStudents, Dean ofFaculty and as Associate Headmaster. In all ofthese positions he has brought his own sense ofhumor, spirit, wit, andfriendliness.
Throughout all ofthe positions no matter how busy he was he has stood by his "open- door" policy. He is endeared to us all because ofhis sense offairness and personal concern,ยท he has always made time to hear the grips, moans andprotests ofstudents andfaculty alike.
In 1997, Mr. Garmey completed one ofhis mostchallengingjobs, thatofbeingafour-year
VES parent. Straddling the fences as a top administrator and a parent must have had its unique and difficult challenges. However Mr. Garmey must have felt an enormous sense o f pride when he witness first-hand the quality o f education provided for his own son.'
With much love and deep gratitude, the 1997-1998 VESTIGE is proudly dedicating this edition to our Interim Headmaster.
