Description: Westover Hotel one of the most exuberant structures erected in the Lynchburg area. This resort hotel built in 1890 at a cluster of five springs west of the city limits. Purchased in 1903 for the founding of Virginia Christian College. Dr. Josephus Hopwood was the founder and first president. For the first six years it housed all the college functions and became known as Westover Hall. Later it served other college purposes.
