  • Title:  Houses - Elm Street
  • Description:  On February 3, 1818, Charles Wilson secured permission of the General Assembly to establish his warehouse just east of the town limits of Lynchburg. He intended to dig out Horseford Branch to make a canal with locks so boats could come up to Main Street to take on and discharge cargo. On Main Street near 14th Street he built a three story bank. On what is now Elm Street he built his house and others all of which was known as "Williamsburg".
