Memorial Methodist Church stood at 901 Floyd Street until it burned about twelve years ago. Habitat houses were built on the lot in 2000. The statue of John Warwick Daniel, a former U. S. Senator and “the Lame Lion of Lynch- burg,” was sculpted by Moses Ezekiel and erected in 1914 on Park Avenue between Floyd and Ninth streets.
