One popular local barber, William Royal Pride, was a second generation barber. His shop, first owned by his father, was located along Main Street, “Two Doors Down From the Market House.” The Prides were famous for their “Celebrated Hair Tonic,” but also would have practiced dentistry and performed minor surgeries, as was expected of barbers of the time.
