The Miller-Claytor House was built on the corner of Eighth and Church streets in 1791. By 1935 it had become dwarfed by larger buildings and was out of place in its downtown setting and threatened by demolition. Concern for the future of the house led to the formation of the Lynchburg Historical Society whose irst effort was to move it to Riverside Park where it is today. This photo was taken in the 1920s.
