Coleman, from the Third Ward, is amember of the firm of Casky & Coleman, one of the leading law firms of the city. Mr. R. C. Wood, from the Third Ward, is the youngest man in the council, is a dealer in staple and fancy groceries at 1527 Main street.
Mr. John D. Ryan from the Third W ard is chairman of the buildings and safety committees. He is a manufacturer of cigars, and an extremely popular Lynch- burger.

YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSO- CIA TION. This popular institution occupies a handsome building at 816-818 Church street. JOHN W. BRANSFORD, city treas- urer. Mr. Bransford is a native of Lynchburg, having' been born and his whole life has been spent there and in Richmond, Va. He was elected to the office of city treasurer in 1855, and he has performed the duties of the office so well that he has been re-elected every three years 'since.
